India's first psychotherapy residency
Training that teaches therapists to sit with grief, trauma, shame, and attachment rupture — not just conceptualise them.
Our mission
MindGuild was founded on a single, urgent conviction: India's mental health crisis is not only a shortage of therapists, but it is also a shortage of clinically ready ones. Thousands of psychology graduates complete their master's degrees each year and step directly into practice, without supervised clinical experience, without structured mentorship, and without the emotional architecture that real therapeutic work demands.
We exist to build the professional standard layer India's mental health system has never had.
We are building India's first residency-informed psychotherapy training ecosystem, selective by design, supervision-led in structure, and deeply grounded in Indian socio-cultural realities. Our mission is not to teach another course. It is to shape the next generation of clinically mature, ethically grounded, and intellectually rigorous psychotherapists.

Our vision
MindGuild's long-term vision is to become the defining institution for psychotherapy training and psychological leadership in India, the benchmark against which clinical education is measured, and the community from which India's most thoughtful therapists emerge.

We envision a future where every therapist in India has access to structured post-degree training. Where supervision is standard, not optional. Where Indian psychological research informs global frameworks — not the other way around. And where the profession commands the public trust, ethical clarity, and intellectual depth, it deserves.

Long-term
Research, policy influence, campus, and a compounding alumni community are shaping mental health culture across India.
For therapists
Internationally recognised training that gives Indian therapists the credentials, community, and confidence to differentiate.
For India
Equipping schools, corporates, families, and communities with emotionally literate leaders and systems.
Core philosophy
MindGuild is built on five foundational beliefs about what it truly takes to train a psychotherapist, beliefs that set us apart from every workshop, certification, and university programme in India today.
Book a SlotKnowing the theory of trauma is not the same as being able to sit with a traumatised client. MindGuild trains therapists to work with emotional complexity, ambiguity, grief, shame, attachment rupture, and personality structure, not just to describe them.
A therapist's nervous system, emotional history, and psychological maturity shape every session. Training the therapist as a person — not just as a practitioner — is not optional. It is the work.
The best therapists draw on neuroscience, systems thinking, philosophy, sociology, and culture — not just DSM categories. MindGuild trains practitioners to think across disciplines and integrate what they find.
Indian family systems, caste realities, achievement pressure, intergenerational trauma, and collectivist identity are not cultural additions to a Western curriculum. At MindGuild, they are the starting point.
The capacity for honest self-reflection, responsible use of psychological power, and genuine care for the client's well-being must be cultivated over time — not taught in a single session and checked off a list.
Institutional positioning
MindGuild occupies a category that does not yet exist in India. We are not a course platform, a workshop series, or a certification mill. We are a residency-informed training institution, selective by design, supervision-led in structure, and long-term in ambition.
Structured, post-degree clinical training with the rigour of a medical residency.
Building India's evidence base for culturally adapted, Indian, contextualised psychotherapy.
Psychologically informed frameworks for executives, founders, and organisations.
The Mukta MindGuild Trust serves communities, caregivers, and families navigating complex psychological needs.
India has no psychotherapy licensing law. No national accreditation system. No supervised-hours requirement. That is not a barrier; it is the opening. A strong private institution, accredited by APA and BACP UK, can become the de facto national standard. MindGuild is positioned to be exactly that.
The Founder
Sindhu Upadhyay Wadhwa founded MindGuild out of a deep frustration with what Indian psychology training was and a clear vision of what it could become. As a practising psychotherapist and clinical educator, she has seen first-hand the gap between what a master's degree teaches and what clinical practice actually demands.
Her work is rooted in clinical depth, Indian contextual psychology, and a conviction that the next generation of Indian therapists deserves training that matches the complexity of the clients they serve. MindGuild is the institution she wished had existed when she was starting.
MindGuild Foundation
Inspired by Mukta
The trust is named in honour of Mukta, Sindhu's sister, whose lived experience became a profound moral and emotional foundation for this institution. The trust represents the belief that individuals and families navigating neurological, developmental, psychiatric, and behavioural challenges deserve not only clinical systems, but dignity, sustained community care, and genuine human support. It is the social conscience at the heart of everything MindGuild does.
Mukta MindGuild Community Initiative was born from a personal journey.
My sister, Mukta, has lived with a severe brain disability since childhood.
Watching her navigate a world that often misunderstands difference taught us that inclusion is not charity, it is justice.
Today, Mukta's storyinspires a larger mission: creating a community where mental health access is affordable and the practice meets global standards.

We believe that compassionate mental health care should be available to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances.
The Mukta MindGuild Initiative provides sponsored psychotherapy and counselling support for individuals who may otherwise be unable to access care.

We welcome individuals, couples, adolescents, and families who need psychological support. Reach out to learn more about sponsored spaces and how we can help.
